C55 AMG Brakes and SBC System

I am the one yr owner of a 2005 C55 AMG. I need to change the fornt brake pads and would like to do this and the rotors myself. However, I have read numerous warnings on the SBC brake system. Can I do this project? How do I easily deactivate the SBC or can the work be done with causing the SBC system to activate?

I would greatly appreciate the help from the experienced owners.
Thanks!

Scott,

First, I think you posted your question in the wrong forum. This forum is for assistance with the forum, not vehicle tech support. I'm sure one of the mods will move it.

But since you're here...if I recall, if you disconnect your battery for at least 30 minutes and leave it disconnected, that should disable the SBC system and you can perform whatever brake work you need to.

c55 AMG
Is there an easy way to confirm the SBC system? I have seen various web summaries that make it appear as though the C55 AMG has this system; however, they also reference the E55. All I see under the hood is a "pump device" with ESP on it.

When I look up the front brake pads, there is a "fit notice" that identifies the SBC system needing to be deactiviated for the C55 AMG.

C55's do not have SBC. Standard ABS braking system.

Confusing BAS with SBC possibly? C55's have BAS - but it's no effect on brake work.
