Anyone know if there is any difference in the '03 gear ratios?

tranny gears are the same. the e320 has a 3.07 rear end and the e500 still has the 2.82. the tranny is a workhorse for mb. most models use it.

is this the tranny ratios for the W140 S-class? it seems like all the benzes in the 90's had the same auto tranny but just different differentials (with exception of the 4 speed autos). does this sound right?

'03 E320 has tranny 722.618
'03 E500 has tranny 722.633
and so on...

So the trannies vary and the gear ratios may vary too.

E.g. tranny 722.618:
1st: 3,93
2nd: 2,41
3rd: 1,49
4th: 1,00
5th: 0,83
R (S): 3,10
R (W): 1,90

tranny 722.633/634:
1st: 3,59
2nd: 2,19
3rd: 1,41
4th: 1,00
