140 remote central locking issue

140 remote central locking issue
Ive got an ongoing problem with a '91 140 remote locking system Im trying to repair. Whats happening is the remote central locking is not responding to the IR signal with all doors closed but when i open either front door and manually latch door locks the rcl will respond to the IR signal making me think its an issue with one of the front door "closed" switches located near bottom of the a pillars but wiring and switches test ok. Ive swapped ATA and PSE control units with known good units with no change(I know ATA's are vin coded but they will work when swapped for at least a limited time). This is a hard one, any ideas out there ?
