MB Techs: 00' S500 ignition setting

Can either of the MB techs comment on setting the adaptive ignition program via the STAR diagnosis machine to 93 octane vs. base setting?
Does the 93 octane setting provide better performance, assuming I'm burning US 93 octane gas?
Thanks
