Techinical question on superchargers

Im planing to convert my R129 to run a supercharger setup, My question is...some of the superchargers fit on both 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder models from a 2.3L-3.2L engines...if i ran with a supercharger from a 4 cylinder, would the efficiency decrease due a bigger displacement from what the supercharger was intended to work with?
