CLK 430 Oil Change Question
Hey,
I recently bought a 2000 CLK 430 with a CLK 55 AMG kit and upgrades. It has 130k on it. I have heard a lot of different opinions about when/how often you should change the oil. So how often should I change the oil? And What type of oil do I use?
Thanks!

The brand name or the "viscocity" rating of the motor oil you use is irrelevant.
What's critical is that "MB229.5" is PRINTED ON THE BOTTLE. If this specification is not printed on the bottle, it is NOT a Mercedes-approved motor oil and does NOT meet the specifications.
This means it will be synthetic oil, and the path of least resistance is Mobil 1 0W-40 European Formula.
Every 10k is the factory-recommended change interval. In truth, that's the USA distributor recommended interval, as the factory has a longer change interval recommendation for other countries.
Recommend you ONLY take your Mercedes to a Mercedes-experienced mechanic even for something as seemingly simple as an oil change.

You can do
your own oil changes. A Mercedes-experienced mechanic is about the furthest thing you need for such a simple task.
Use the right oil mentioned
use a fleece filter www.autohausaz.com
follow the simple do it yourself instructions.
If it takes a mercedes experienced mechanic to perform such a simple task,God help us all
