Blower Motor Regulator

Does anyone know where the blower motor regulator is located on a 1997 E420? The fan on my car won't run properly at the high setting so I'm assuming the regulator is bad. It seems that Mercedes discontinued the blower motor/regulator for my specific vehicle so if I just want to replace the regulator, I also have to replace the blower motor (for a total of $730). Based on this, I think I'm going to try to find a used regulator. If anyone knows the part number for the discontinued blower motor regulator I'd appreciate that as well.

autotech,

I did not check the air filters yet; thanks for the suggestion. I'm assuming you mean the dust filters and not the cabin charcoal filter. If so, how do I check these?

the cabin filter is behind the glovebox pocket, just remove the glovebox pocket, you will see a plastic slider lock to the right then you can remove the cover, you should find two filters.

good luck, the pocket is not real easy to get out, you sort of have to pull the top of it to manuvere it.

hope this helps

I have figured out a way around this. Just purchase a new blower regulator for a 140 chassis car. It will directly replace the 210 unit with just changing the wire harness from the old regulator to the new one.

I have done over 20 cars this way will NO problems.

Thanks Benzmac for your tips...

I have 98 E20.. Here are the symptoms.
1. Last week my AC was cold, however no air was coming thru the vents very little air. It only happened ONCE.

2. I notice motor sometime runs the same as 4th position as High position.

3. I get cold air, but RARELY it acts up running in Medium position when the setting is HIGH.

What do you think?.. I dont think it is the Blower Motor, I suspect Regulator starting to act up and maybe later on it will go bad.

Could you elaborate, please how to change the plug?
Did you get any complaints afterwards you did this modification.

Also, I hear the there is a heat sink plate? does S class comes with it.

Which part number should I order from what model?

Thanks in advance.
