Left taillight is brighter

Hey guys,

Need some technical help...

I never noticed until last night....

When I turned on my headlights and fog lights (all together), the left taillight is brighter than the right taillight.

Can anyone tell me whats wrong?

Thanks,
Brembo

Sounds like you have turned on the rear fog light.

There are two clicks to the foglights. First click turns on the fronts, the second the rear. There are two indicater lights near the light switch, green is the fronts, amber/orange is the rear.

Is that it?

Nuk, thanks:

I will try again tonight. But I dont think that is the problem. Because I tried all the possible ways to turn the lights on.

Also, my light switch to turn on fog lights is a pull.

For example, (as I recall),
1) Turn right twice headlights, corner and taillights come on. (no problem!)

2) Turn right twice, with one pull "headlights are off" and corner/tail lights and fog lights turn on. (No Problem!)

3) Turn right twice, with two pulls turns on all the lights (headlights, corner/tail lights and fog lights). (PROBLEM!!! left tail light is brighter than right taillight)

Not sure if this is relevant, but I own a 1996 C36 AMG.

thanks,

Brembo

1) Turn right once, parking, corner and taillights come on.

2) Turn right once, with one pull parking, corner/tail lights and front fog lights turn on.

3) Turn right once, with two pulls turns parking, corner/tail lights and front and rear fog lights).

4) Turn right once, headlights, parking, corner and taillights come on.

5) Turn right once, with one pull headlights, parking, corner/tail lights and front fog lights turn on.

6) Turn right once, with two pulls turns headlights, parking, corner/tail lights and front and rear fog lights).

There is only one rear fog light. It is on the left.

Lynn,

Thank you as well.

After 8 years, I've never check my lights. Im so glad I finally took the time to do a light check. All this time I thought the women was checking me out in my C36...little did I know, they're looking at me and probably saying, "Poor guy, I guess he spent all his money on the car and now he cant afford a new light bulb!"

All joking aside, I will try all of the above. If it doesnt work, my feeling, the shop who customized my stereo system must have triggered a wire to cause the rear fog light to go on.

Thank you again and I will keep everyone posted with end result.
