Patrick/MBtech-Keyless Go
I know that Dave was understandably upset by being asked (demanded) to do another techs job by giving advice here and I completely understand if you think my guys ought to jump through the hoops but I guess there's no harm in asking.
I have an intermittant warning message "Key not recognized". I have had it in twice. (I told them that I had learned that it may very well be the keyless go amp). The first time they ordered an antennna and I brought it in to be installed. They called and said that was not it and that they really hadn't figured it out and needed my car for another day to analyze the problem, a day to order whatever they needed and another day to install it to see if it worked.
I was a little upset since this started the first day I owned the car. The guy said that they put the key on the passenger floor, the armrest and outside the car and get the same message "Key not recognized".
I thought they could hook the thing up to a computer and pretty well diagnose the problem. Not so?
Have either of you had this experience and what was the fault? My guy said they are still on the "learning curve" with all the new electronics. I sure don't like the idea of them experimenting around with my car to stumble accross the answer. Isn't there an MBUSA technical dept they can consult with so they don't have to shoot in the dark?
They said they had encountered the problem before and just didn't remember what it was they did on those cars. I ask them to do a little research and that I would make an appointment next week to bring it in and finally get this issue resolved.
I love the car. It's an engineering marvel but this little pesky thing just drives me nuts.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Mine was built March 8 and 9. 2003
