Is the "parktronic" pod on the dash easily removable for cleaning?

Hi, I posted this question in the AMG section but I didn't get any replies. The pod (center or the dash) on my car has some sort of hardened gel/goo from the previous owner. I tried removing it and as it's coming off it's smearing into the dash, not pretty. I poked at it and I can't tell if it's glued down, snapped in or..? Anybody know if I can take that thing off to clean it and easily reinstall?? I don't want to damage it..

Okay with no help from anybody here I called a dealer and talked to the parts department, he assured me that it pops right off, and it did. I used very fine wet/dry sandpaper to scrape off the muck and then the headlight restorer to polish it up. Turned out really well.

I keep my ride pretty clean but I must admit that this won't be at the top of my list of priorities.

Well I would assume that yours isn't covered in some sort of hardened goo either, otherwise it might be at the top.
