'03 E55 Brake Failure

Hi everyone, this is the first time posting on this forum.

About two weeks ago, I purchased a used '03 E55, and last night while driving around with my wife, all of a sudden the instruments flashed red with constant beeps indicating of brake malfunction, and then brake failure. It then goes on to say ESP disabled and my check engine and ABS light is on.

This freaked me out as i couldn't stop in time and almost hit the car in front of me. Also, when i parked at the nearest parking lot, i could not shift it out of park, but was able to use the emergency button with a pen i had, and managed to limp the car back home.

Is anyone familiar with this problem?

You may have an SBC brake system. If so this is covered many times on SBC brakes in W211 forum and others that have this system. Stop now red warning in FSS is a good indicator of total brake failure. With SBC brakes you MUST have this checked.

I think there is a recall for the SBC system. Either way, it's going to have to get checked out by a Mercedes shop. Good luck.

If you happen to be a New York customer, we can handle this repair for you.

I believe there is a ten year warranty on the VERY EXPENSIVE SBC pump.

mleskovar is right, your sbc pump most likely is the cause and it has a 10 year warranty on it.
