w124 220te problem after rewiring loom
Hi
Hope someone here can help my w124 220te started playing up running on 3 cylinders occasionally and developed into permanent 3 cylinder running I replaced the offending coil still running on 3 checked the loom to find crumbly insulation so removed and rewired last weekend i refitted the loom. It started first time and settled to an even idle until it reached 80c then ran on 3 cylinders again. So I built a blink tester on checking the fault codes it came up with 13 14 15 16 17 22 24 and 38 I then reset all the codes and ran the car again no faults showed until the car reached 80c then it gave 22 which I believe means ignition output 1 or coil1 (cylinders 1 & 4) which was the coil I replaced so what should I do next? if it was a faulty coil I would have thought the problem would be there all the time the same if it was an ecu output fault so please does anyone have a clue what to do next.
Thanks in anticipation
Gary

Hmmm, have you changed your plugs? That can be a quick cheap fix if you have a bad one.
Is there a chance your wire loom you installed is going bad? Not temperature rated insulation or pinched.....?
You did say it would idle ok untill it came up to 80. Does it still run ok at lower temps?

Hi Dan thanks for your thoughts yes it ran ok when temp was below 80c. It turned out to be a faulty HT lead I was looking for something complicated and it wasn't.
