you should be able to turn off the Daytime lights through the dashboard/steering wheel control panel. There is an option ( I believe under Vehicle ) for the lighting and it is probably set to constant for DRL's to be on. Use the + - to change to off.

I think in Canada it is a legal requirement, so that the change cannot be made from the user-accessible car settings.Originally posted by tmangus

Therefore, that leaves two ways that it could be done on the W211 (I am not sure which one is used).
On some Mercedes model, the DRL is set by either a special wire harness or a special relay is fitted in the headlight relay box.
On others (likely the W211, as that now has electronically controlled headlights), the DRL is set by setting the option code using the Star Diag system. A quick way to change this setting (rather than searching for it) is just to select a different country code, such as USA.

Go to the dealership... ask if there is a daytime light relay available for your car. If so, then you can buy that and pop it in your headlight relay socket.Originally posted by phast

Thanks, I'll check it out next trip to the dealer, and report back if anyone else is interested.Originally posted by scorchie

As far as I know, in the light option menu you can select "automatic head lights on or off". this is an option to be selcted anywhere outside Canada. A Canadian licenced car has this option blocked in the firmware.Originally posted by phast

But does that apply to the R170 (SLK)? I didn't know there were any options....maybe dealer selected?Originally posted by bamberger_1

Not that I know, that this is a dealer select option. Just scroll through all the menus, and you should find the right tab.
As I said you wont find it if its a Canadian sold car. This option is blocked due to legal reasons.
