W210 E290TD not start
Hi,
I have a big problem with my MB W210 E290TD '96.
I have the car for about one year. One month no problem with the car...then the car started to stop when the car was moving. When this happens the RED and GREEN LED from rear mirror start's to flash. If i try to crank imediatly the car not start.I get the key out from the igniton switch,i wait about 2 min,and try some cranks ,and at 2-3 tryes to crank....the engine starts.
Last time when i started the car was abut 2 weeks ago.Sunday I tryed to start the engine, but no succes. The LEDs from mirror is flashing and the car is not start.
What to do?Please help !

My best guess:
It sounds like the disabler security system is activating at random times.
The security module needs to be replaced.

99 E240 & 96 E230 & 78 280se
not starting red and green lights flashing
I had the same problem with my 96 E230
Had success by replacing the electrical box (it has a bunch of mechanical relays inside it) with second hand one that I purchased from a wrecking yard,
Mine had a K3 sticker on it ( I have seen it called the K40 box) the part no to mine was A 210 540 04 72
I cleaned all the relay contacts first,
It is found inside an electrical box under the bonnet towards the fire wall, unscrew/remove top, locate relay box, then unplug the main power plug first (thicker red wires) there are several plugs , I immediately plugged in the cleaned s/hand relay box.
had no more staring problems ( so far) that job was done on the 8/2/2011
I found this on another web site (a new box was recommended) when I was having this problem, but a second hand one worked for me OK, I think it was dirty relay contacts that I cleaned before install did the trick.
