E300D engine electronics shuts off engine
I recently purchased a 1996 E300D in excellent condition and 213000 miles. As I drove off the lot the warning light "engine electronics" and check engine came on. I drove it home 300 miles with no problem. However the next day driving around town the engine shutoff. since then the engine can shut off at any time without warning other than the warning light (it will always restart immediately).
I did take it to my mechanic shop and have him fix it he only works on gas engines but is very competent. He spent several hrs on it at "no Charge" but could not find any problems and it did not shutoff for him. He took it to another shop that is a part time mercedes mechanic and he also could not find a problem; however he charged me $200..
I did hook-up my CarMD and got codes of P0120 and P0200.
I am afraid to take it to the MB dealership because of a limited budget. Its a great car and I have driven it another 250 miles but it is still shutting off.
