Mercedes C200 CDI
Revving

Hi all, i have a 2004 c200 Cdi. I was recently driving at approximately 100mph, i then put the gear into neutral(manual) then the car just starting revving by itself. I then pulled over but the car still was revving (alot of smoke coming out from exhaust and some from the engine)by itself even thought i removed the key from the ignition and i turned the car off, after about 5secs this stopped and then alot of fluids was coming out from the bottom of the engine. Now the car will not start as the engine will not turn over.

Please could someone help as i do not know the problem, i have searched the forum and saw a few posts similar to mine stating a turbo problem?

Thanks

putting the car in neutral at 100 mph is not a good thing. you may have over revved your engine and done internal damage. i once did this by mistake to an alpha romeo and blew my head gasket.

I'm no expert...*far* from it...but could this have been some sort of diesel runaway?

thanks for you replies. i got it checked out by a few mechanics and one said it was due to too much engine oil, while the other said it was due to a catalytic part. tbh i may just sell the car or buy a new engine as the car hasnt been used for 6months or so.
