Issue with 2006 E500
I just purchased a 2006 E500 with 70,000 miles. The issue comes and goes. For example, this morning I was in traffic going 15-30 mph. Whenever I release the gas, it seems as though the brakes are being applied even though I'm not pressing the brake. Then when I'm heading home this afternoon, I release the gas to see and it's smooth, the car continues to roll. Any ideas on what is causing this?

When it feels like its on the brakes after the throttle is released you will probably see "SBC-S" on the dash. It's a function that can be enabled by tapping the cruise control stalk whilst having your foot on the brake. It's a funtion of the vehicle, for the full description check the owners manual.

I don't see SBC anywhere in car or on manual. I believe they stopped using SBC in mid 2006. My manual says edition B, so I'm guessing that my car is made after July 2006. I notice it only does this when traveling at low speeds. I'm thinking it's just how the car drives? This morning I was traveling at around 10 mph and when I release accelerator, it seems as though the car brakes and sometimes drops down to 8mph instead of 9 first. My main concern is that it's a defective transmission but there is no noise and the gears seem to switch fine. The car is automatic but does have the option for sport (manual).
