I recently purchased a 1989 560SL. It has 98K miles and we have done a lot of work on it but it is still stalling. Among many things, we have replaced the ignition module, fuel accumulator, O2 sensors... all things associate with a hot start. I can start it, back out, put in drive and head out on my way with the FIRST start of the day. If I make any other stops-no matter how much time is in between (5 minutes or an hour), I will back out of a parking spot, put it in drive and the first time I press on the gas is will stall-I thought it had to do with the transition from reverse to drive. Today, I tested a different theory, and thought if I backed in to a parking spot, then drive out forward (meaning no reverse after start up) that I wouldn't have the stall problem. I was partially right. It started up and I drove away with no problem. 5-10 minutes later I went through a drive through and while I was waiting in line I had my foot on the break-the second I pressed the gas, I stalled out again. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what I need to fix?
Thanks
