Suspicious Electrical Issues - HELP!
1) So, I've been getting the red battery/alternator warning light for quite some time. Went to a local shop to check out battery and alternator stats and battery was toast, alternator charging ok. Replaced the GIANT battery and still getting the red light. I've ignored it for a few months now, assuming it needs a dealer reset.
2) Recently got a warning light for right side parking lamp. Replaced the bulb, still not working and getting warning.
3) Twice now, this has happened (most recently this morning)
- BAS and ESP unavailable lights come on
- Radio, heater stop working, dash lights dim
- Plastic/rubber burning smell
- Slight loss of power upon acceleration
- Coolant warning
- Then it miraculously starts working fine, lights bright everything on.
Any thoughts???

-- No1 suspect... is the main GND STRAP.
It's located all the way under the chassis where is the worst possible location to get road salt, rain soaked, over heated by the muffler and vibration from tranny.
-- Trust MB, its not simple! There's more in the mix....
> You want a good SOLUTION:
Scan your chassis with what you got or buy a LAUNCH scanner.
Do not through any parts at this chaos without clues to see what's going on.
Hundreds of things can interact to create chaos. (voltage, poor connections, soakings, CAN-Bus gateway,...)
A decent $150 scanner will let you interact with all modules.
> DEALERS DELIVER...
I can say that "X-Mas Tree" display are a WARNING sign of caution to keep out of dangerous high speed situations.
Dealers are great at handling these unstable vehicle with a full line of factory trained personnel.
Computers in crisis can brick (ie. quit) at any time while driving.
No3 suggest a chassis low voltage condition, a low battery or bad alternator voltage.
