I'm guessing that you mean a puddle - as in the alternator was water damaged by submersion. If that's the case then a good portion of the car would have been submerged also. Ask for further evidence of water damage and how only the alternator could have been water damaged. Are you missing the belly pan? Allowing water intrusion? Just some thoughts... As an FYI - OE alternator suppliers conduct salt spray tests for durability as airborne salt is expected in various climates.
Go back to the dealer ! Environment damages not cover by MB warranty ! Living in Florida risk of salt water is inevitable ! My MB E350 2011 cannot be repair.
The car was parked at the same spot for all this time. I was on vacation for 15 days. No hurricane. And the alternator has salt water by a "virtual" wave.
Solution from the dealer of Coral Gables : call your insurance.
Done. Now they want to give me recycle one. The dealer charge $1000 for the new one. High price ?..
I am still fighting.
Please help if you have any advice.

Unfortunate but outside influence is not covered ifnyou read the terms. Now I feel they would have to have a pretty bad shape alerternator to actually stick you with it, as the dealer needs to send its parts to the QEC for evaluation. A that time if they determine the cause is outside they will then send the part back and debit the dealer. This is why dealers have to be careful what they warranty.
