oily '00 w203 M111
Hello all, I have some small probs with my new purchase, with 158kms on the clock.
I've run my new/old merc for only a week when I've gotten an engine light.
After reading some forums, I've got some maf cleaner, and cleaned it.
The MAF definitely was oily
I took it to a what you guys call an 'indie' and he told me that these were just an oily motor. He could spend 2 grand cleaning the intercooler, and changing the MAF out, otherwise, basically, suck it up... He didn't even bother to put a scan tool on/ most of what else I asked...
The car is giving me a 'no malfunction' on dash after cleaning. Can't remember if it did when light was on.
Now I've got a scan tool, I can see 3 x error codes
p0101
p0102p (p is for pending?)
p0113p
Two other things I have noticed since having the car is:
Oil level is overfull (just still on the plastic bit, not on the wire)
Also, I have found the air filter to be very dirty. Very, very dirty. Major black plumes after putting air through it.(at least it is original mb)
This comes from a car with a mixed service history, but up to date...
I think I saw an 02 04 mark on the filter. Wouldn't surprize me if it was a date mark...
Any ideas on codes or indication if overfull oil will cause this oil in the supercharged inlet?
I was considering after changing oil, to only run it half way up the dipstick.
Will a light oil cause this oil prob also? I've gotten some 15w60 penrite fully synthetic, which says it is 229.1 approved.(to suit this older model petrol)
Oil/air filters coming, to solve the obvious.
Also, can you get an mb tool to fit over the oil filter top to undo the actual filter? I saw a guy use one on youtube.
Thanks,
John.
Great site by the way, you've saved me packets already.
