Check Engine Light
Have an 03 CLK500 with 600 miles, today the check engine light came on after the car started stumbling & shaking. I have put 80 miles on since last fillup & the cap was on tight. Took it to the dealer & on the way stopping at traffic lights the car was vibrating & pulsating. Dealer said #1 cyllinder was misfiring so they put in a new coil, after that now the misfire was in the #4 cyllinder & moving around. Also they said the oil was almost 1 quart too much as the oil pressure was 75 instead of around 58 so they removed about a quart. My dashboard always said oil level okay when I checked it. They reset the crankshaft sensor & the light is out. They said to drive it more & harder as short easy driving leaves gum in the engine which can cause this. Any ideas???

Check Engine Light continued!!
Well put on about 100 miles & as I was putting it into drive it stumbles a little & a few minutes later the check engine light came on again. Also while at the dealer the first time they adjusted the crank sensor but the car ran rougher after that but did go 100 miles before the check engine light came on again. Now my 03 CLK500 has 700 miles on it.

I had a similar problem on my E class, come to find out all it took was blowing air into the spark plug housing and cleanig the coil and spark plug. I guess the detail shop I took it to steemed my engine and moisture got into the housing. This may not be your problem but the symtoms sound the same.
