ML320 Grinding noise

Hi guys,

I just had a quick browse through your great forum but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

I have a 2007 mercedes ml320 automatic.

Today for the first time it has started to make a grinding noice when I shift from P to D.

It also started displaying an error message that said "vehicle is not in park" which doesn't normally happen

Can anyone shed some light on this problem please?

Regards Jono

This needs to be inspected by a local mechanic or the MB dealer.

It may be the flywheel flex plate broken, engine/transmission mounts, internal transmission damage.
These issues are potentially very HIGH cost.
Correct diagnosis will save money.
