E320 wagon
Exclamation check engine light

Mechanic tells me that code shows that my E320 4matic wagon is running lean. Air and Gas filters have been replaced (over $500.00) and now I'm told that I could spend thousands of dollars and never get the problem resolved. Mechanic states that the computer perimeters for this vehicle are too tight and even Mercedes cannot fix this. Problem is I can't get the car registered. Can anyone help?

that seems way high for filters. maybe find another mechanic, or find a reputable dealer. worst case at the dealer is they can diagnose with their computer and if you don't like the price just pay them for the diagnosis usually $150-$250.

+1 to Biker. Absolutely guarantee the car was not designed to run that way. I'd find a more reputable repair shop. There are certain circumstances where MB's will not qualify for US 'Smog', but they are very rare, very well known, an very well defined. Frankly, I think you have a 'rip off' repair shop.
Cheers,
Jeff
