96 E320 Burning smell.

96 E320 Burning smell.
All,
My 1996 E320 has been driving fine recently. Though on this past weekend trip driving from Vegas to L A and then back the car has had a burning wax or burning crayon smell to it. I've only noticed it when getting out of the car. Sometimes it is very strong sometimes not. I will guess and say it might not be originating from the front as I open the hood and there is no smell. Possibly coming from the bottom or rear of the car. Does anyone have any idea why? Trans fluid was changed about 10k miles ago, checked it today appears okay.

Check underneath your car, cat coverter and exhaust. A plastic bag may have gotten caught there and melting over either one of those to cause that burning smell...check it out and let us know what you find.
