Nardi Wheel on a R230 !!

Hey Guys,

I am on a quest to determine what needs to be done to install my classic Nardi steering wheel on my R230/ SL500.

And....Yes I am QUITE aware of all the critical comments about - no air bag, losing the OEM steering wheels input buttons, etc.. and lastly, the esthetics and "mismatch" of the current "modern interior design theme". (Plus the loss of the airbag insurance deduction).

I hope there are those among us that appreciate the beauty of a Nardi or Nardi looking wheel on a classic Ferrari or Mercedes...I had mine on my old 450SLC5.0 rally car and it felt and looked GREAT.. In fact, there were many installed on several W198 Gullwings, 230/250/280 SLs and later W107s... even the W194s and W196S had similar wheels (Moss still has his).

My intent is to find someone who knows how I can install a small button pad on the fascia to the lower left of my steering column that would provide access to the onboard computer to input and receive the normal message readouts.

Any leads to a technical guru that would know how the OEM steering contact data can be tapped and re-routed to the envisioned small "dash-pad' would GREATLY be appreciated !

Thanks

Ron
