Where's the fuel filter??

I have a 97 E420. Pulled panels off everywhere, can't find the pesky fuel filter. Also, I need to know the location of the pressure relief valve.

I am not completely sure for the W210, but I guess it is located in the same area where it is in the W124 series. At least its worth a check. It is underneath the car, rear passenger side, behind a plastic panel together with the fuel pumps, filter and backflow valve (attached to the pump(s))

haven't had a chance yet. My old 240d went down so I have to give it some TLC. I did pull that panel off originally (3 screws hold it in) but I got confused, the pump looked like it was in a sealed plastic thingy so I got nervous and didn't pull it apart.

It's there - trust me

Standard placement for the fuel pumps, filter and accumulator is passenger rear, near axle, under plastic shield. Be careful to replace all mounting straps correctly to avoid bimetal effect and also the engine manual instructs one to replace all sealing washers after changing out filters or otherwise loosening fuel lines. ( they are cheap but essential.)
