Question tail light

Ok, here's the problem. On the driver's side, the tail light will not come on at all. I have checked the bulb and it is not burned out. I tried replacing the bulb with a fresh one with no change in the problem at all. I experienced a problem similar to this with my reverse light on the same side, but it started working again all by itself. I don't know what is causing the lights to go out. The tail light however has not started working again like the reverse light has done. What might be causing this, and how can I fix it? Do I need a new light bulb assembly from a US spec W126? Mine is from a Euro W126 if that makes a difference. I know it's a Euro due to the extra inoperative bulb for the rear fog light and absence of the side running light.

Try cleaning the contacts in the light bulb socket with something like CRC or WD40. Re the extra fog light bulb, do not know year of your vehicle but the newer ones have this feature that does work. Check your manual for how to turn it on.

I tried cleaning it with WD-40. It helped none. That rear fog light option doesnt work on US spec W126s. I could do some re-wiring to get it to work, but I'm not good with that. All I want is to do is get my tail light working again.

I went down to the local pick and pull today, and got myself a US spec W126 rear driver's side light assembly. I connected it up the best I could. It wouldn't snap up completly because the part that separates the lens and light assembly is set up for a Euro assembly, and the US spec assembly is not compatible with the Euro part, so I'll have to head back to the pick and pull and get the US spec part from another W126 so the assembly will be complete. Well anyway, the tail light still will not light up, regardless of what kind of light assembly I use. I cleaned the connectors, and still no tail light. What could it be? A short or something? I need to know, I desperately need a working tail light.

When it is about electricity, maybe some measuring will help?
