MBtech, maybe you could give everyone a little run down of your credentials/history....

Fantastic idea for a forum, I look forward to reading it. Given the fact that different models may have common problems, this seems a logical place to check regularly.

A little about myself? Well, I graduated high school, yes, high school in '99. I went to Universal Technical Insitute in Glendale Heights, IL for their automotive course (which is very good, by the way). I did well enough at UTI to get accepted into Mercedes-Benz' ELITE program in Rancho Cucamonga, California. That was a 4 month training course specifically on MB vehicles. I graduated from that at the top of the class. Since January 2nd I have been working at a Los Angeles area Mercedes retailer. I have 45, soon to be 47, MBUSA training credits. I am a certified technician (although not "master" certified. That can take a few years at least to obtain). I am a certified smog technician by the state of California. I am licensed by the EPA to handle A/C refrigerant. I am certified to do Starmark used-car inspections. That's basically it. Since I work at a new-car dealer, I really only have experience with cars from the mid-nineties and newer. If somebody has a problem with their ESP light coming on in their 2001 ML430 I can help them, no problem. But if I get asked a question about a '75 450SL, I'm afraid I'll be pretty much useless.

Great to have you on the moderator team... What is the name of the MBZ dealer you work for? If you are close to the San Fernando Valley I might be more comfortable taking my car to you for service.
