Mercedes C class C200 CLASSIC W202 (V reg)

My 1999 merc would not start this morning (been standing for a week) looks like a battery problem . There was enough charge to get the electrics on , a lot of strange warning lights came on and i could hear the battery, located in the boot, making some groaning noises as though it was pretty drained. I had a look at it but i am hesitant to remove it , as i can see the usual leads but i can also see 2 smaller connections . Is that some kind of trickle feed ? I dont have a host battery to hook up to the trickle feed should i remove the battery , though i could get one. if i do remove it and try charging it , does anyone know what the implications would be , or better still does anyone have a solution because i cant move it in its present state. Thanks , Brian.
