Mercedes W203 C55 AMG
SRS Fault

My W203 C55 AMG has the SRS lamp on, had it scanned at the agent and get

Fault 1/1 ID9077 Vins in ctrl modules N2/7 & N73 are not identical

N2/7 is the restraints sytems control module and N73 is the EIS [electronic ignition switch]

We checked the vins and the N2/7 has the last 4 digits as 00y5 [dotted y] and should be 0005. We changed the vin to the correct 0005 and the SRS system functioned correctly for several weeks and the same code appeared again with the mismatched 00y5 vin. Now we can't erase.

They say the SRS [N2/7] module MAY need replacing. Expensive maybe.

Can anyone help. I don't mind replacing the part if that is the fault

Thanks
