Star Diagnostics
I own quite a few mercedes benz vehicles including,
1). W220 S280 2004
2). W221 S350 2009
3). E300 2010
4). G55 AMG 2009
5). ML 350 2013
6). CLS63 AMG 2013
7). Maybach 62 2006
Please do let me know if you can recommend a good diagnostic tool or where to get star diagnostics from in Dubai.
Since I am not a very experienced person with cars I would like to learn how to fix things as cars are my passion and I believe a tool like star diagnostics can help me learn more about my cars and help me understand how to fix issues with these cars.
If you have any other recommendations please do let me know.
if i had the cash for all those expensive mercedes cars you've acquired i would hire a mercedes trained mechanic just to keep them all running and in top shape..
until then, i got a (bootleg) star diag system here:

I like the idea. But I want to learn all these things myself. I even wanted to know if a system like this would even guide me to troubleshoot these problems. Do you think for someone who is new to DIY I would be able to work on the W220 atleast by myself.
I do know an independent Mercedes Benz workshop nearby but they have started taking advantage of being the only once in the city and have started increasing the prices.
Thanks for your help and suggestions everyone.

from my experience working on trivial items and watching theex-MBz tect work on heavier tasks on my S600 it will take some practice but should not be beyond anyone with some small level of digital (handy with tools) skills..
the star diag system will need some familiarity born from use so as to get the best out of it..
mercedes cars seem to be some sort of rolling computer network, sort of a small intranet of disparate "johnny one note" computer modules all reporting to the central server.. sort of..

so working on a mercedes car will require some sort of familiarity with these concepts as well as mechanical skills and lastly, the tools to do the work..
for myself i'm slowly acquiring the skill to get info from the star diag system and the WIS (workshop info system) and a job specific tool here and there..
in short, get the tools and then use them in the "use it or lose it" aspect..
