Anyone with an M272 engine NOT have balance shaft issues?
3Hi folks,
I've got an '06 ML350 with the notorious M272 engine. The engine serial # falls within the "affected" range. I've got 126k km (78k miles) on mine and am wondering whether I'm sitting on a ticking time bomb, or whether there's a chance I won't run into the balance shaft problem.
Anyone with the same engine, higher mileage, and no balance shaft issues? Alternatively, what are some early signs that the balance shaft issue may be coming up?
For what it's worth, I'm aware of the US class action lawsuits and recent agreements to (partially?) compensate owners for the repairs, but I'm located in Canada and that doesn't apply for me, so if this were to happen, I'd be on the hook for full cost of repairs.
