#8 CYLINDER MISFIRE S63 AMG
2011 S63 AMG. I am getting an engine misfire code on my car. Usually will occur only if I floor it on the freeway and get it around 100 plus. It will start staggering and feel as if the engine is wanting to not accelerate any faster. Then engine light comes on and engine starts lugging and stammering hard. Pullover and turn off my ignition and restart it and she runs fine. And accelerates fine. It's only when I try to really punch it and get up into the 6000 RPM range is is when she will get the code and check engine light. I have a code reader and it said number five and eight cylinder misfire. Then just today was only cylinder eight. I have read that I can be a ignition coil or possibly bad plugs My engine only has 53,000 miles on it. And the car is in immaculate condition. Really need help on this because I don't want to spend 1500 and getting the coils replaced and plugs if I don't need to.

I Got the Exact Same Problem
Did you get any responses? Did you get it fixed? What was the problem?
I replaced the coil pack and wires for cyl#8 - no good
I swapped the coil pack and wires for cyls #7 & 8 - no good
Thinking injector????

id say a fuel filter, had many mb's with misfire codes. The filter fixed them. The newer cars have the fuel pressure regulator built in to it. That's if your car has an external one.

When the volume or pressure is down, it could be the last cylinder in the fuel rail flow.
You could swap injectors or put some techron in it and drive for a week. When it misfires, does the check engine light blink?

Is it hard to swap injectors? PITA etc? Do you need to be a Cirque Du Soleil performer etc I did run two bottles of SWEPCO 503 fuel improver. It may have helped - a little, but then it happened again It seems to happen when it's been driven for ~10+minutes, and if you gun it when the rev's are low like ~2000. The CHECK ENGINE blinks, then goes on solid, and it runs like crap in limp-home mode. I slipped it in neutral and coasted, switched off engine, waited 2-3 seconds, then started / put back in drive, and all was good except the CHECK ENGINE light remained on until being reset. The code was also P0308 again, misfire on cyl#8.
Fun fun fun

Just about every car I work on that has a blinking cel, hada bad plug, coil , wire. I've probably replaced 5 injectors in 30+ years. But with garbage gas these days, nothing would surprise me. I've seen a lot of stopped up fuel filters too.

Well,
Now it has a new fuel filter in it. Now I'll drive it a bit to see how it goes. Next adventure will be to replace the #8 injector.
BTW - New injectors are hard / impossible to come by for the AMG E55?? The only options I found was rebuilt injectors?? I'l dig some more.

Yes, it's the built in regulator and pricey. I drove it today with no incident, but traffic was way too heavy to play with it. The car is really fast. Like on a different scale of power, or (dare I say it) over-powered! I pushed it a little on an onramp, but caught up to slower traffic really quickly, and it did not konk on cylinder #8. I'll test more. Weeeee!
