Left backup(reverse) light is out-R230 08 SL55
I got a message on my dash. Light bulb is good, but I replaced it with a new bulb. No, Luck. Metered the contacts and very low voltage power. Any chance the computer turned it off? How should I trouble shoot from here? Thanks

Had a similar problem with brake lamps on a 2005 ML 500. Found out MB had bulb - wiring repair kit for it. Your next step will be checking for power on the wire. Make sure to hook up test lamp and then turn on key and put in reverse

Thanks Glenn, I did meter it and it had very low voltage. I forget the number now, but I am thinking it is the bulb check signal from the computer. That is why I am wondering if the computer can lock this out. It's not a real priority, but I will be digging in deeper next week when I have more time.

Also, a voltmeter won't show the computer the correct resistance a bulb does, or a test light for that matter. I'd get a bulb and socket with wiring and hook it to the wires on back of the plug with it connected to the tailamp. Then turn on key and select reverse. If it still doesn't work, I'd agree a bulb check box would be the issue. Good luck.
