Is there a way to start engine on SPORT+ mode
Hi
I have GLE coupe 450 AMG. Is there a way to start engine always on SPORT+ mode? So the start exhaust note is more aggressive ane the car sits lower when parked.

"The driver also experiences authentic
and emotional dynamics during engine start if desired. When the twin-turbo V6
engine is started in the "Sport Plus" drive program, the engine speed quickly
jumps to 2000 rpm for a moment before immediately settling back down to idle
speed"

don't bother to call MBUSA about it. I already did. They did not even know anything about this, about this article. They told me that it is possibly only on C450 AMG, but later told me that C450 AMG also starts on COMFORT/ECO mode as default.

Mid City Engineering in Chicago said they may have a solution for it. I am going there today to try it out. Hope it works. I will keep you posted if you are interested.

ok. So, i went to Mid City Engineering. They are very helpful. They said their module can get the car to start at the individual mode (which driver/user can set it to SPORT PLUG). But they cannot be sure that the exhaust tone will be different from COMFORT mode since that's not electrical/software programming related. But they believe the suspension will remain at the SPORT+ height if the car has dynamic select option.
So we did more research online and found a way to start engine in any mode you like!!! You just have to pressure the start button twice without stepping on the brake pedal. The dynamic select mode will light up. You then change it to whichever mode you like. Then START!!
MB USA customer care was useless. They had no idea that can be done and told me that it will always start on comfort.

I am glad my question became an answer and helped some of you guys.
It is kind of annoying to have to do it everytime, but at least we can do it now. Does the car exhaust sound louder in SPORT+ for E63?
I think it does with GLE 450 AMG. not a lot louder, but I can definitely tell the crackle sound

I thought about doing this. I did it on my C350 years ago. It worked well, but aren't you worry that this will affect the special sound/performance designed on the AMG exhaust? AMG design the exhaust to have the backfire popping/crackling sound. I am just concerned that once you change any part of the exhaust, that special sound won't be there anymore.

Yes, I do. But I wish it was bigger and cover the entire roof. But I have the GLE coupe though.
I am curious what the exhaust system is like for the GLE coupe. I know for C and E class, you have the header then split into two pipes going into the center resonator, then out to two mufflers, then the end tips.
I think GLE coupe only has one large muffler in the end. Maybe two separate resonators. I don't know if X pipe can be installed. I wonder if straight pipe will make a good difference.
