SL55 AMG - changing interior console trim

My husband has a car on order (SL55 AMG, Brilliant Silver/Berry Red). He wanted the standard aluminum trim, but dealership somehow put in the order for Black Ash Wood.

They are trying to resolve, but an option given, was to switch the wood for aluminum at the dealership's service center when the car comes in.

That makes me a little nervous- but is this a fairly simple procedure? I don't want to make any comprimises or for it to look any different than it would have if the factory built it that way.

Please let me know so we can decide how to proceed.

Thanks!

Wood trim....

To my knowledge the interior wood/aluminum trim is glued in place and easy to replace. Removing the trim in one piece may be hard but that's not your problem. If you have it done look all around the edges of the trim to make sure they didn't booger up the dash or panels.

THe trim is NOT glued in place at all. It comes as pieces and is fairly easy to remove and replace. Several people have done this to their cars in the C Forum and E forum. I wouldn't be concerned as long as the mechanic is compentent with trim removal.
