E320 '95 A124 - CC issue and diagnostic codes
My Convertible E320 is finally about to be perfect, but there are still some issues, which need your assistance. It runs smoothly, driving it is a great pleasure but:
1. Cruise Control sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't.
2. It happens sometimes, that right after starting the engine, the ABS warning light is on. When car moves for a few seconds it goes off.
3. The CEL comes on quite often - with "42 blinks" error code.
What I have diagnosed so far:
1. I have a Californian MB model, so there is OBD Diagnostic Module onboard. It blinks 5 times, which means "Exhaust gas recirculation inoperative". What could be a cause of this problem? EGR valve, or anything else?
2. Mentioned above "42 blinks" error code says either "CAN communication from EA/CC/ISC control module (N4/1) or CC/ISC control module (N4/3) defective" or "CAN communication from diagnostic module (OBD II) (N59/1) defective". I don't have ASR.
3. CC module gives two error codes - 4 and 10, which means: "CC switch (S40)" and "Engine speed signal (TN) from engine control module (N3/4)".
Here are some thoughts and questions:
1. Where is CC module placed? I think resoldering it may be a good start.
2. EGR issue has nothing to do with CC issue, but it need fixing anyway.
3. I read somewhere, that weak battery may cause ABS light on for a while, right after starting engine - ABS circuit is quite current-cunsuming.
Thanks for your help
