2007 W211 E350 P0715 code?

Transmission went into limp mode and check engine came on.
Assuming it is the speed sensor, it looks like I need a new conductor plate.
Is that a good guess, or are there other common issue that trip the same code?

He said there are a few checks, but given the year and a few he has had in recently for the same issue, he does not doubt the diagnosis.
Heck, that extra $800 in my checking account would have just been wasted on fine wine and dining.
P.S. Fluid was done about a year ago, all was good then, and he put the adapter on the connector so it should not be a fluid soaked wiring harness.
I have an '03 c230 throwing the same P0715 and am tempted to pull the trigger on a new conductor plate and have it changed out.

Yes, 5 speed (2008 4Matic)

Yep, new conductor plate (which has the speed sensor in it) and all seems well (Except my wallet)

I got the parts but chickened out on doing this one myself. I was afraid I would still have to clear some transmission codes after I replaced the conductor plate with it being locked in 2nd gear. It also would start to limit the engine rpm's to 3000rpm after I drove for a few miles (it was 8 miles to the transmission place). I talked to a transmission shop with excellent reputation who turned out to be familiar with the 722.6, leaky connector adapters and replacing conductor plates. He told me if I wanted to replace it myself I should do it and that the codes and all the weird driving behavior would clear itself with the new conductor plate. I wound up just having him do it - this past Wednesday I dropped the car off at lunchtime and he called me before quitting time that it was done. I had just changed the oil/filter/connector adapter at Christmas, but nevertheless bought the kit with the conductor plate and new fluid/filter/connector adapter/pan gasket/etc. so all that was replaced. Drives great. Looks like all they did was have the battery disconnected while they did the job and no codes.
