Don't throw that old TomTom GPS away!
I have an old TomTom GPS that is about the width of a tennis ball. It works beautifully, but the suction cup mount is broken. A common problem for this device. So what? The GPS still works.
I stuck a 2" round disc of thin flat steel to the back of the TomTom with two-sided tape. Then I stuck a dime-sized rare earth magnet to the console of my 1998 MB E-430 with some two-sided tape. I put the magnet between the A/C control panel and the left air vent, just to the right of the key switch.
When I am not using the TomTom, I can just pull the TomTom off and stick it and the power cord in the ashtray/lighter cabinet, and shut the door. I don't smoke, so it is nice and clean down in the ash tray.
Or, heck, I will probably just leave it on the dash. Who is going to steal a 10-year-old TomTom?
