1986 300 SD having problems
I own a 1986 mercedes 300 SD and im recently having problems. Whenever I park it and take out the key, the engine just keeps going and takes another 15 seconds to turn off. During this period, the car still can move, go in reverse, etc... I don't know what this is. Someone please help- Thanks

partial answer
The electrical device that cuts off the fuel supply to the engine when the "ignition" switch is turned to 'off' is evidently not working. Diesels stop by interrupting the fuel supply - if the fuel supply is not cut off, it'll run until the tank is drained.
Having written that, I can't give the part number of the device that has failed, as I don't know the 300 D engine. But it is the fuel cut-off that's not working as it should.

Isn't it fun when that happens?
I had an old '81 300D (traded in '92) and it had similar issues. But mine would occasionally run on for much longer. Had to get out, pop the hood, and hit the manual kill switch.
