Please help me identify this noise - VIDEO inside
Have been working through issues on my CLK230 since buying - I have a tappy/rattly sound coming from somewhere, sounds sort of like tappets, but not sure.
I've since replaced the MAF with a brand new VDO Siemens genuine item and also the catalytic converter, all codes have now disappeared, but I'm still experiencing the below noise - a tappy / rattly sound
It sounds more like it's coming from underneath in the exhaust area as it's more obvious when putting my head there than anywhere in the engine bay. I've had a look around the exhaust manifold, there doesn't appear to be any cracks or leaks, no soot or excessive noise from there. Please help!

I find a lot of these knocking on the exhaust with a soft mallet or the palm of my hand (when cold or with gloves).
They break apart inside and if it goes on long enough, a piece can lodge in the exhaust pipe stopping it up and cause the engine to run rough or stall.

Another way I've isolated exhaust rattles is to get a long piece of wood and start pushing it against the exhaust pipes at different locations while the engine is running.
The rattle will change once you're close to the area thats causing the sound.
