Unhappy 99 C280 Stall problem... over heating??

Hello,
I have 99 C280 with about 80k.

From the last month, I am having engine stall problem.
After I park the car, I can not start engine again.
Few tries, engine cranks..... but no fire.
Need to wait 15? 20 minutes to start again.

Some times, the car stalls at the light.
Again, after 20 minutes car starts.

When the engine is running, everything looks, works normal.

BUT, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO ERROR RECORD.

I took to the dealer, and they did...
-Replace both fuel level sensors.
-Short test.
-Fuel tank drain/refill.
-Fuel pump pressure check.
-Replace the oxygen sensor.
-Replace the Exhaust system connection (for the oxygen sensor??)
-Short test.

I paid a good $1k.
But still doing the same.

It act like the engine is over heated.
But the temp was only 85? when the engine was stalled.

There was no gas to the engine when it is not starting.

The car does not stall while driving. It happens only at the signal or in a trafic.

I check wires and fuses for the ECUs.
I also checked inside the ECUs.

Last time, I put the heater high and drove the car.
The engine temp staied around 80 and no stall problem.
After parked, engine start again normal.

If there is engine high temp shut off sensor, I want to change the sensor. Is there???

Thanks megabyting,

I did what you said.

Pull out the fuel pump relay and clean contacts and put it back,
but still the same problem.

Since, the relay is not that expensive, I will buy a new one
and install it again to prevent future relay problem.

Is there any other things to check???

try looking at the HFM fuel controller. This is the computer portion of the fuel system I believe that controls the fuel going in and out of the engine. That may be a problem.

Other thing I can think of is the ignition coil packs?

Try those and let us know.

Try the K40/ small silver box with a clear sight on top and a fuse in it. Right side(passenger) of engine compartment. Dont waste your time with coil packs or the HFM control unit. Could be a couple other things also but that is the best bet.

A '99 C280 does not have HFM, or a K40 relay. The '97 and older did, but the 98 and up have Bosch ME 2.0. That being said, it is a bizarre problem, maybe a corroded crankshaft position sensor connection, or a problem in the drive authorization system. No fuel pressure should be an easy problem to find.

Problem Solved !!!

It was the engine crank sensor.
Because it is inside engine, it was sensitive to engine temp.

No more stall....
Engine start every times.....

Thanks, everyone.

Engine Crank Sensor

Where can I find the engine crank sensor in the 99 C280?
