Alternator not charging, replaced, still not charging??

I have a 2014 CLA. Recently replaced the engine

The alternator was not charging, had error message in Xentry (see pics) saying it coyuld not communicate with the alternator/starter

I had a good alternator off the old engine, so I swapped them out, same error message.

Xentry is telling me that there is no electrical fault or mechanical fault in alternator. When I meter the positive cable coming from alternator with engine running it shows around 0.3v

There are only 2 wires coming from alternator, the other is a LIN wire that runs to the motor electronics unit (to pin 48) I check that and the circuit seems OK.

Am I missing something obvious here? This is driving me crazy.

Any suggestions on what to try next please?

xentry telling me all is fine (apart from the voltage)

error message

xentry test saying it was OK, but no battery charging was showing

If I had that issue I would go back to WIS and review the charging system components\functions and wiring diagrams.

Hi.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having a similar issue on my 2010 ML350 Bluetec. DAS is showing code 109B00 (Component N3/30 received no LIN message from component G2/7) with the replacement alternator, and it's not charging.

Would really appreciate it if you could share how you got this fixed.

Thanks.

The ALT can charge the battery over 13V in default mode without any LIN input. Yours does not so I think it is not working!
  1. Unplug LIN connector at ALT
  2. Rev up engine near 1500rpm
  3. Measure voltages at several locations

Double check what your prefuse links are up to or review CHARGING diagram applicable to your VIN.
