flush radiator
Hi ,
I replied on a thread but its buried somewhere else so I'll repeat here.
I got a 1992 300E with a 3.0L. I want to flush my system out. All cars I've done before, I disconnect the top hose and put off to the side to drain while engine runs, open radiator drain also, and feed fresh water into the top of the radiator. Is this how to flsuh this engine?
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Fish

I typically remove the thermostat, disconnect the upper radiator hose and flush in the reverse direction of normal coolant flow. Beyond that I get a little creative and disconnect other hoses and flush through them. You could also try opening the engine block drain. If it's the same as my M104, it's located under the exhaust manifold. Running the engine is not a bad idea. Just don't flush a hot engine. You don't want to thermal shock the parts.
