Cigarette Lighter Socket
'01E430: Since day one, my Escort radar plug and another dual type plug seem too small for the MB cigarette lighter socket. Anyone have this problem? I have to constantly open up the springs for them to fit in the lighter socket snugly. They both fit well in all my other vehicles except for the Benz. Any comments?

Cigar lighter receptacles
in european cars, they tend to be a larger diameter (don't know why...)
With a lot of chargers/adapters, they will come with a ring adapted to make them fit properly with the larger opening.
A friend of mine discovered this when trying to plug a cell phone charger into my Benz's lighter socket. We fashioned a temporary wedge with folded paper to keep the thing from popping out.

I have had several cigarrette lighter plug in accessories that have come with an adapter for the larger lighter sockets. One I remember from years ago was an original Escourt Radar detecter (don't use them any more). Perhaps Escourt could get you one
