Can't get CLK240 Avantgarde out of park after new battery

Hey everyone! Really hoping someone can help here. Long story short, was driving an old Honda. Got given this car as a replacement. Switched over all the paperwork. Found out the battery was no good (as it'd been out of use for some time). So got someone to come out and fit one today. £155 later, the car starts up and goes. Took it out on three drives today. Drive number four, I get in, and it won't let me get out of park and is suddenly throwing up malfunctions for ESP, ABS (display faulty) and Brake Wear. This is literally my second day with the car and I'm starting to freak out. I feel totally out of control here and at the mercy of electronics I don't understand and probably can't even afford to fix right now.

Is there *any* procedure for either resetting or dismissing these codes? I've read a few things online about resynch'ing the car but no-one seems to have the exact procedure, and I only have the brief manual. Not the full technical one. I also saw something about a faulty brake light switch but the lights come on when I press the brake so it's not that either.

Any help at all would be amazing as we're basically stuck now and I have no idea what to do! Thanks in advance.

**Edit: also noticed the temperature gauge is stuck halfway on 80.
