I tried to jump start another car with my C300 but the cables melted and caught fire. I was able to disconnect the cables and to put out the fire but the box next to the battery is severely melted (see pictures). The car is still under warranty. Will the repair (parts and labor) be covered by the warranty?
Unless you can prove that the jumper cable melting and subsequent fire were caused by a manufacturing defect on your car, I very much doubt that the damage will be covered by MB warranty. MB will likely maintain that the jump start was not performed correctly and therefore the damage is not their fault. Even worse, it may even void parts of your warranty.
No way that is covered under warranty! You just learned an expensive lesson.
There are factory instructions on this forum explaining the proper way to jump start our cars.
