Catastrophic turbo failure

Hi all,

Desperate for some words of wisdom and support from all you knowledgable MB owners...

My 2013 220 W176 suffered a breakdown last week and it since transpires that the turbo failed and has caused significant damage to the engine.

Mercedes are quoting approx £14000 for repairs (more than the value of the vehicle) with zero contribution from MB as it’s 6 weeks overdue a 12 month service (however service manager previously informed me “these engines can go at least 20,000 miles between servicing)

Just trying to ascertain whether any other owners have experienced a similar failure at all and what have you done about it in terms of repairs?

Ive had a quick search but haven’t found many similar cases to refer to.

Could do with all the help I can get on this matter so any replies would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I'd be looking for a used motor , or have the head off to see how bad the damage is , you might get away with a top end rebuild and a turbo .
