380SL idles rough - dies on acceleration

Plenty of fuel exited these lines

Is something supposed to connect here?

Cleaned this

1985 380SL - 130K miles

This began two weeks ago. I was cruising on the interstate at 75mph when gradually I began to lose power, couldn't maintain 60mph, then 50mph until I had to pull off the highway and call for a tow.

The car is a seasonal toy but it had been driven daily for three weeks prior to my issue to purge the tank of 2017 gas.

In 2016 I replaced the under car trio of fuel pump, accumulator and filter.

Last week I replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor.

This weekends checks were
1) Look for vacuum leaks
2) Loosened all 8 mini fuel lines + red plug (photo) = fuel easily came out
3) Removed and cleaned idle control valve (photo)
4) My finger points out a rubber elbow atop a device I have no clue what it is.
